Invertebrate Videos

This post is dedicated to some of the videos I took with my phone over the past year. Some videos were taken in Costa Rica, some in the lab at school through a dissecting scope, and the rest are a bit random. I want to have them all in one spot.

This is a pile of ants in Palo Verde National Park near Bagaces, Costa Rica.

This video was taken on a restaurant patio in Costa Rica, somewhere near Bagaces.

This is a little hermit crab found at the beach (Playa Coco) in Costa Rica.

This one has a few sea slugs munching on algae in a tide pool (Playa Coco).

Here is a crazy swarm of ants near Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica. We were walking along the path from the beach to the house we were staying in and all of a sudden noticed a bunch of spiders, beetles, and other bugs scurrying across the path in a hurry. We looked to where they were running from and saw a massive swarm of ants taking down everything they could get a hold of. This video really does no justice to the immensity of this swarm!

This is a spider that I nearly walked into during a night hike around the UGA campus on Monteverde, Costa Rica.

Here's a video I took of some larva and other organisms under a dissecting scope. I pulled these critters out of Cherry Creek in downtown Denver as part of my invertebrate zoology class.

For the same invertebrate zoology class, we were required to find an invertebrate to keep and study for 30 days. This is the broadwinged katydid I used for the project. I named him Morbo. He was so cool! After I gave my presentation, I set him free so he could hopefully find a mate before the first freeze. I hope he got laid!

The YouTube videos I linked are part of a playlist of other invertebrate videos. I linked my two favorites here, but there are more to check out and more to come!
